Remembering Your Favorite Seattle Summer Festivals

Summer in Seattle means festivals and events!  Ever leave the Bite of Seattle trying to remember what that delicious little vendor was?  Ever attend Bumbershoot only to forget the name of that cool new band you heard?  Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.  Here are some of the biggest upcoming events this summer, as well as how to remember everything you discover!  Two apps—Evernote and Shazam—will become your best friends!

Seattle Beerfest – July 6-8
Use Evernote to make a note of your favorite beers you taste.
Bite of Seattle – July 20-22
Use Evernote to record the names of the best vendors, as well as the dishes you like most.  Include pictures of the dishes if you want to try making your own versions.  Evernote even has a food section that you might find useful.
Capitol Hill Block Party – July 20-22
Turn Shazam on when you hear a great song—it will tag the artist and song name for you to reference later.
Seafair – August 3-5
Use Evernote to take pictures of cute decorations and dishes that you might want to try next year.  If you’re having picnics or going out on boats, record items you don’t want to forget (or after the fact, record items you found necessary that you should bring next year).

Bumbershoot – September 1-3
Use Shazam to tag artists and song names whenever you hear great music.

Quick Tips

When organizing your paper files, avoid labels like “miscellaneous” and “random.”  You’ll encounter difficulties finding them later.
If you work from your car, set it up as a functional office with storage and office supplies like a desk.
Use cloud services as a convenient way to access all your information while you’re on-the-go, through your laptop or your phone.
Create a set of email policies for your small business so everyone’s on the same page when it comes to writing and sending emails.

Share part of your inbox with your assistant so you can efficiently delegate email responses to your assistant.
The one-on-one attention I got from Elizabeth helped me identify problem areas and prioritize changes to become more streamlined and organized.  Replacing old habits with new ones is challenging but extremely rewarding! Thanks again, Elizabeth!Eliott P., Event Services Manager
I can’t tell you how accomplished I feel today. Even when someone came to me with an “emergency” project, I noted that on my calendar. I know that I can use that information to help people better schedule time with me to get these projects done.Erin George, Real Change News
